Just got to ride the 10'6 C4 ISUP inflatable Stand Up Paddle Board. This is the first inflatable paddle board that I have ever paddled, so I can only compare the ride to a traditional paddle board. I spent about 40 minutes paddling on the intracoastal waterway in South Florida. I got out 8:30am at dead high tide. I do have to say that was the clearest water I have ever seen in the intracoastal, I could see the bottom at 20ft no problem. I saw a 5ft tarpon and a spotted eagle ray cruising down below.  I was impressed with the overall construction of the board, it is made of thick rubber and seems like it will hold up really well.

The Ride:  I pumped up the board the night before, it took me about 5 minutes of pumping to get to the recommended 12-15psi. The board has a fairly rigid feeling once you get to the proper psi. It has a nylon handle protruding out from under the deck pad, which is very easy to grasp, since you can get your whole hand around the handle. I carried the board down to the water and hopped on, it felt a little springy but maintained its overall shape, NO creasing of extreme flexing. The nose rocker keeps the nose of the board up and out of the water, it carried across some boat wakes with no problem. Compared to a traditional board, the flex in the board made it bend and fit into and across the wake really well. A rigid board will sometimes dig the nose, since the wave period is very short on boat wake. The inflatable seemed to bend and roll right over the wake without burying the nose. The board glided really well with each stroke and tracked in a satisfactory manner, there were a few times that I forgot I was on an inflatable board. I was able to walk the board, get into surf stance and perform a pivot turn first try. It was time to head in a get ready for work.

Conclusion: The C4 ISUP will open up stand up paddling to a whole new group of people. Many people have a problem storing a traditional SUP in condos or on a boat, where space is at a premium. This board paddled and handled well enough to give those with limited storage capacity a completely viable option to now own a SUP. It's nice when the whole package fits into a bag with backpack straps. NO more worries about outrageous airline baggage fees when traveling. The ride was impressive, good tracking, glide and responsiveness. Next time there are waves, I will be giving it a shot in the surf. I suspect it will ride like the soft surfboards we use at surf lessons.
